href="http://thegadgetmania.com/asus-u2e-netbook-price-and-review">Asus U2E standing out in the crowd is the stylishness: instead of that typical glossy black look found on many other netbooks, it has genuine cow leather lid, wrist rest, and around the keyboard. To make it even more mouth-watering, shiny gunmetal finish can be seen on the hinge, as well as above the keyboard and at the front edge. And it’s very portable too. The Asus netbook is such a petite device measuring 277mm by 194mm by 24mm and weighing only 1.25 kg. However, inside the small dimension, the Asus U2E is such a feature-rich laptop offering three USB ports, 0.3-megapixel webcam, Ethernet port, modem jack, and a fingerprint reader; as well as a DVD rewriter drive residing the right-hand side of the laptop and analogue D-Sub and HDMI video outputs. The bold appearance and all those features justify the price, however. Asus U2E demands a high price at £1,100.

For a netbook, Asus’ performance is pretty much standard. Of course you can’t expect a device intended more to be portable to be packed with high-end technologies. So put aside video encoding or those 3D games demanding more power. But for ordinary standard tasks, it performs well. Utilizing a 1.06GHz Intel U7500 ultra-low voltage CPU, Asus U2E is not fast but it’s steady. The 2 versions of U2E offer different memory: 2GB of DDR2 for the black U2E while the mocha brown version has a 4GB. In terms of storage, the standard model has a 120GB hard drive which is divided across two partitions: one for the operating system while the other stores other data. Meanwhile, the mocha brown variety only has a 32GB solid state drive but offers quicker file access. The 11.1-inch screen has a resolution of 1,366×768 pixels and is very reflective making the laptop less unsuitable for outdoor activities.

Creative ZiiO tablet does come at such a low price of £176 which may be tempting for those who longs for a tablet but can hardly afford iPad’s asking price. However, consequently, there’s not much to expect about the tablet’s features.

ZiiO’s chassis is predominantly matte black plastic which may appear cheap but it’s not really bad. Somewhat lean with the thickness of 14mm, the Creative tablet is light at 650 g. Surrounding the screen, you’ll find a fairly thick glossy border which houses four touch-sensitive buttons and three controls for music and video playback while a VGA camera resides on the left-hand corner. Several ports are included in the device, such as: an SD card slot, mini-HDMI port, and a mini-USB port. The tablet allows expanding memory using the SD card up to 32 GB and it helps the storage ever since the internal memory only provides you with 8 GB of memory. Utilize the mini-USB port to synchronizing the tablet’s content with a desktop. Creative ZiiO’s connectivity support only applies to Wi-Fi and it doesn’t support 3D. All the ports are pretty much standard, but watch for the screen. Tilt a little out of the tolerable viewing angles and you’ll likely have a difficult time viewing the content. Furthermore, the touch screen is the resistive instead of the capacitive type so that it feels so sluggish to work out.

Under the hood the ZiiO offers a 1GHz single core ZMS-08 chip which is not really impressive but still performs better than several other tablets. The operating system employed is Android 2.2 Froyo which is somewhat outdated. But the interface got customized a great deal with a bar at the bottom containing shortcuts and other tweaked appearance.

Huawei Blaze U8510/ Ideos X3 is such a charming stylish handheld with glossy front and rounded edges. The rear is covered with rubberized plastic material to make sure it’s safely gripped in your hand. Along the sides you’ll find power button, volume rocker, and a home button. Inside the charming look, the Blaze comes with capacitive touch screen, Android 2.3, an under-1GHz low processor, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a relatively low price of £100 on a pay-as-you-go contract. Whether it means good or bad, figure it out yourself with the Smart Phone’s review below.

The capacitive touch screen measures 3.2 inches with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels which is low but the small screen makes it unnoticeable. The colors are vivid and the display is bright although it only supports 262,000 colors. And it’s capacitive, too, making it responsive to even very little pressure on the surface of the screen. For today’s smart phone, Android 2.3 is somewhat outdated but considering Blaze can be categorized as budget phone, the inclusion of version 2.3 of the mobile operating system from Google is pretty impressive. Moreover, it includes the face-to-face video chat capability. On top of the OS, Huawei Blaze U8510/ Ideos X3 Smart Phone has confidently sported its own skin with bold and colorful icons. The 3.2-megapixel camera doesn’t have any autofocus or flash feature and so it’s only suitable for quick shots.

Blaze incorporates a 600 MHz CPU which is considered low for a smart phone standard demanded to handle so many tasks. So, with this phone, put aside those power-hungry 3D games and get prepared for suffering lag every now and then, particularly when several apps operating simultaneously. For the storage extension, Ideos X3 comes with a 2GB microSD card.

Huawei Blaze / Ideos X3 Smart Phone Specifications:

Type: Smart Phone

Dimension: 110 x 56.5 x 11.2 mm

Weight: 104 g

Display: TFT capacitive touchscreen; 320 x 480 pixels; 3.2 inches

Memory: MicroSD card slot up to 32GB; internal 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM

Operating System: Android 2.3

Processor: 600 MHz

Battery: Standard battery, Li-Po 1200 mAh

Battery Duration: Standby up to 300 hours, talk time up to 4 hours

<a

Apple’s lines are on the top but naturally they tend to be pricey. For those who want the feel of an Apple but can hardly afford it, here comes T-Mobile Vivacity. It’s designed with an Apple feel: the oblong shape, curved corners, and flat sides as well as the lock button and silver rim. However, the casing is mostly plastic which accounts to the budget Android phone’s cheap look although plastic means being lightweight too. The entire build of Vivacity is quite sturdy so it handles knocks pretty well. Vivacity’s exterior is equipped with several features as follows: touch keys on the front, volume rocker on the side, 3.5mm headphone on top, and a front-facing camera next to the speaker. There are also a micro-USB socket on the left-hand side, a micro-SD slot inside which can be accessed without removing the batery with memory expansion up to 32 GB. The screen measures 3.5 inches, presenting vivid colors and bright display. However, the capacitive screen’s resolution is only 800×480 pixels with pixel density 267ppi. It’s responsive to slight touches, making it convenient to work with.

Now let’s have a look at the inside part: Android 2.3 Gingerbread which is not bad at all for such a class. The five home screens lay out the usuals: apps, live widgets, and shortcuts of folders and pages. Vivacity appears with its own original skin over the Android and it looks well. Besides the Android operating system, under the hood there’s an 800MHz processor and 512MB of RAM, not quite powerful but it’s sufficient for standard daily tasks.

The Android phone will set you back £90 on pay as you go for the price.

T-Mobile Vivacity Features and Specifications:

Band: Triband
Samsung YEPP YH-999‘s 20 GB of storage perhaps seems too measly because users expect to store space-hungry video files. The video player has claimed video playback duration of 80 hours but unfortunately the battery life only lasts for 3 hours. A device meant to be a portable handheld should be equipped with a battery life longer than that so that it’s convenient for users to carry it during travel without feeling worried about running out of battery power. However, the interface and navigation is easy to understand particularly for those who have been so familiar with Windows Media Centre Edition in a desktop version. Of course, this Samsung’s video player is incapable of recording videos or displaying live TV since the only function it handles is playback. It’s a video player but all it supports is the WMV format although other formats can be played if only you’d employ a third-party plugin (and it’s somewhat bothering of course). Samsung’s battery lasts for 3 hours for a video playback while audio files playback last longer duration of 12 hours. In terms of display, the screen doesn’t provide a clear display while viewing angle is limited.

Samsung’s YEPP YH-999 is covered in silver look and can handle scratches nicely. On the front part you’ll see power, play, fast-forward, and rewind buttons besides a joypad for navigating menus. The screen is a colour type and measures 3.5 inches diagonally. This video player is equipped with headphone connector and an A/V socket on the top edge, cable for connecting the player to a TV, a volume control and reset button on the right edge, as well as a power socket, USB port and a hold button. There’s a kick-stand too on the back allowing you to watch a video conveniently without having to held the device all the time.

Samsung YEPP YH-999 Descriptions:

Type: Digital Multimedia Player – Play Movies, Music and Pictures
Philips SA9345 is an MP3 player offering several decent features. In terms of supported media files, SA9345 is capable of playing MP3 and WMA but sadly it doesn’t support other audio formats like AAC, WAV, OGG, and FLAC. However, the two formats are perhaps common enough so there’s no need to feel too much bothered. It plays WMV on the condition that the file’s resolution is under 220 x 176 pixels. The supported media file is JPEG. The mp3 player’s interface is well-arranged and you’ll find a built-in conversion software, nicely-set file structure, on-the-fly playlist, and there’s even an FM radio with 20 presets.

It’s not just decent file storage but also provides good audio so that users can listen to any favorite music on the go. It plays tones nicely, with clear bass and nice mid tones. If you’re not really satisfied with how a music file sounds, then there’s a set of preset EQ options to improve the quality of the music you’re listening to. Maximum volume is lower than many other players so that it’s probably a lot safer to use if ear health is becoming your concern. Nice touch of style too, with glossy black front, and brushed charcoal look covering the rest of the body. The player has touch-sensitive controls under the 1.8-inch player screen. The screen is an LCD variant and has a resolution of 220 X 176 pixels. The MP3 Player from Philips also comes with decent battery with battery life lasts for about 20 hours for audio playback and a naturally shorter duration of 2 hours for video.

Apple’s Time Capsule looks stylish and is designed attractively. An indicator light is on the front while several ports can be found on Time Capsule’s rear: a single Gigabit Ethernet ports, 3 Gigabit ports, and a USB 2.0 port. The Gigabit Ethernet port can connect to a cable, DSL, or LAN connection while the Gigabit ports handle hard-wired network devices. It integrates both a wireless router and a hard drive in one device. This Apple’s hybrid 802.11n wireless router/networked hard drive is available for £329.

It’s very easy to manage network with Time Capsule because each options come with easily-understood descriptions. Apple Time Capsule provides a 2.4GHz or 5.0 GHz 802.11n wireless network and is capable of connecting to other CPU’s seamlessly and each system is capable of reading and writing to Time Capsule’s hard drive without any significant problems.

The Time Machine feature makes it very easy to backup data from Mac to Time Capsule and the backup can be performed automatically from a MacBook laptop on the network directly to Time Capsule. All the process can be set up so easily. Time Capsule’s storage performance is excellent; its data transfer speeds depend on the range of what we expect from other hard drives we’re connecting.

Any USB device capable of being connected to a network can be plugged-in to Apple’s Time Capsule: it supports USB flash drive, USB hard drive, a USB hub. Furthermore, printers can also be added to a network via the USB ports.

<a

Take a look at the base, you’ll find responsive buttons, a handy joypad, and a ruberised coating to make sure the device endures any accidental knocks or scratch. The 114 measures 116.7mm x 68.9mm x 13.6mm and weighs in at 115 g, making it rather large but quite lightweight to carry around. The Classic PDA from HP packs 624MHz CPU and has 31MB of free system memory and 196MB of storage space. With such specifications, for a PDA, iPAQ’s performance is quite excellent. It’s capable of running several programs simultaneously, watching video files, viewing documents or perhaps you simply want to have fun with some games. The transflective screen measures 89 mm diagonally. The PDA also comes with an auto sensor making it capable of adjusting the screen’s brightness depending on the available light around the device. For the connectivity, HP iPAQ 114 supports Wi-Fi so that you can enjoy browsing around a Wi-Fi hotspots conveniently.

<a

Besides, if you have to go to an area that doesn’t have any Wi-Fi hotspots, you’ll have to connect the HP’s PDA to a compatible Bluetooth phone to be able to access internet. On a standby mode, HP’s 1,200mAH battery lasts for several days though, unless you use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth which definitely consumes more energy. The In terms of look, Orange Monte Carlo is not quite stylish with its plastic casing and somewhat loose build. The plastic material makes it lightweight at 120 g, though. The front part welcomes you with a capacitive touchscreen and a row of physical buttons beneath it. The buttons serve as a wake button as well as back. Observe the sides and the phone provides you with a standard volume rocker, lock button, and USB port. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera on the phone’s body.

However, with the decent specifications consisting of 4.3-inch LCD-TFT capacitive screen, an 800MHz processor and Gingerbread operating system in Orange Monte Carlo, £150 is such an affordable price. Other Android-based phones run the older version of the operating system, have lower processor, and sport much smaller screen. Not running Android’s vanilla version, Orange Monte Carlo ZTE Skate has been meddling with the operating system resulting in white and orange menu icons and several unique widgets. The screen measures 4.3 inches and has a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Monte Carlo’s touchscreen is impressive and presents clear display. Capacitive screen, instead of the cheaper resistive variant, means slight touch is enough to access the function and it’s pretty responsive. More than two points of touch are accepted by the budget smart phone.
Orange San Francisco 2 is for you. The budget smartphone is now available for around £110. Instead of the unfashionable chrome and rubber as found in the previous San Francisco’s casing, the improvement edition employs chic-looking shiny black plastic to wrap the device. Bundled with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the San Francisco 2 offers great functionality with several tweaks in the interface to make it all easy for the users to work out. Five home screens are ready to be filled up with apps and live widgets as well as shortcuts to folders and websites.

For a smartphone the 3.5-inch screen doesn’t provide the finest resolution, in this case 800×480-pixels, but for such a price it’s nice to have the brightness and vividness. Viewing image files and your collection of videos will certainly be some pretty much pleasant experience. The screen is of the capacitive variant and is pretty responsive to swipe around. Three navigating buttons can be found beneath the screen each of which accesses a quick menu, back function and home-screen button, while a volume switch, a power button, a micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack reside on the rear part. With the weight of 120g, length of 117mm, and width of 58mm, the smartphone is quite portable and slides easily into your pocket.
Powered with potent 800MHz processor and backed with 512MB of RAM, this smartphone handles usual tasks well. To compensate the measly 512MB of internal storage, it accepts microSD cards which should be inserted on the slot inside the casing.

Orange San Francisco 2 Budget Smartphone Specs:

Type: budget smart phone

Processor: 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM

Operating system: Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Application store: available

Screen:

Screen Size: 3.5 inches

Screen resolution: 800×480-pixels

Touchscreen: available

Form factor: Candy-bar

Camera:

Location: rear

Camera resolution: 5 megapixels

Size: 58.5x117x10.6 mm

Weight: 120 g

Typical <span
